I’ve gotten to know this family a bit over the last several months and was thrilled when they contacted me for a family portrait session. Unfortunately, our first attempt got rained out and we had a tough time synching up our schedules after that, but we finally made it out to the Silver Creek Metro Park in Wadsworth on a beautiful fall day.
I typically like to include more black and white photos in my galleries but I just can’t bear to wash out the gorgeous colors that we were treated to during the shoot. I’m not always the biggest fan of Ohio weather — really, who is? — but as a photographer, I’ve really grown to appreciate this time of year.

Above all else, I strive to have fun on my shoots. The more relaxed and comfortable my clients are while they’re in front of the camera, the more natural they’ll feel when I’m clicking away and the more open they’ll be to whatever ideas and inspiration may strike while we’re out and about (like putting them in front of a pile of old tires, for example). Simply put, a fun shoot produces a great photo gallery.
Of course, when you’re dealing with so many different people and so many different personalities, it’s only natural that some shoots are more fun than others. Spencer and I met at the Medina Square a few weeks ago for his senior portraits, and we instantly hit it off. Spencer — who loves cars, plays about a dozen instruments and is in the midst of his first season running cross country — also enjoys photography, so he and I had a great time looking for unique places to shoot as we got to know each other a bit. In fact, I wound up with so many great shots from this session that I had a hard time choosing which ones to include in this preview, and I’m dreading having to cut the shoot down for the final gallery.
Good luck during your senior year, Spencer, and thanks again for a great time!
